faksin

Keywords: medicine

Pronunciation (IPA): ˈfaɡ.zin
Part of Speech: term noun verb
Class: skurun
Forms: faksin, faksinys, faksinka, faksinkas
Glosses: vaccine, vaccinate, immunise, immune, immunised

Description:

The term 'faksin' comes from the international word with variations on "vaccine," ultimately for historical reasons from the Latin word for cow. The current firm was consecrated by the AXZ in the early modern period, but essentially this word was in use in some form for a long time prior.

In Common, faksin also has overlap with the idea of immunity, as well as referring to a class of drugs designed to stimulate immunity against a pathogen to prevent illness, and the administration of said drugs.

Noun:

In a noun context, 'faksin' means 'vaccine', the drug. The derived form 'faksinka' is one who is immunised - this is mainly used in technical public health contexts.

Verb:

In a verb context, 'faksin' is a transitive skurun verb meaning to vaccinate. It can take a propositional phrase introduced with 'ceo' to indicate the name of a machine administered, and/or with 'erpa' indicating the illness or pathogen protected against.

Commonly used in an antipassive pali form which has a sense more like 'got oneself vaccinated, be vaccinated'.

Modifier:

The modifier form 'faksinkas' is used to refer to someone who has been inoculated. The alternate form 'faksinys' has a sense more like 'immune' and is less used.
